Window Film...  A Simple Solution To Complex Problems

Designers, architects and buildings specifiers have long appreciated glass as a building material. It enhances views, improves appearance, lets in natural light and creates a more livable environment. However, glass has serious drawbacks.

Solar heat energy and damaging ultraviolet stream through unprotected windows and glass doors causing increased energy bills, uncomfortable hot spots and fading of fabrics and furnishings. Untreated glass also poses safety and security threats from windstorms, accidents, explosions and smash and grab burglaries. Solargard and Armorcoat films help solve these problems while providing many additional benefits for building managers and facility occupants.

What Causes Fading?

No windows film can totally eliminate fading. It can however, offer significant protection from fading due to ultraviolet and solar heat energy.

How Window Films Work

Window film is a polyester laminate applied to inside surface of glass. It is primarily designed to reduce the transmission of harmful and damaging solar energy, although many other benefits  are provided.

Early films had to be very dark  and highly reflective to work. Today's advanced manufacturing technology enables window films to be lighter in appearance and still provide impressive solar energy rejection performance.

In addition, thicker safety and security films are available, designed to provide extra protection by helping hold broken glass in place.

Solargard Architectural Window Films

Specify Solargard architectural film and you"ll receive the following advantages:

Commercial Quality Window Film Turns Ordinary Glass Into A High Performance Glazing System

When sunlight strikes a clear glass window almost 90 percent of damaging solar energy is allowed to transmit into the building.

After film is applied, solar energy transmittance is reduced because the reflectance and absorptance performance  capability of the windows is improved.
